He's Down There In The Dark Valley Too

I always thought of God.... way up there
Among all the planets in Heaven so fair
Until I found myself one day
Down in a dark valley... I'd lost my way
I was stumbling and crying and hoping that He
Would hurry up.. and send somebody down after me.
To lead me up out of that horrible pit
I thought... “Oh, God... I guess this is it”!!

But then came a light as soft as the night
“I'm right here beside you to lead you to light.
Here, take my hand... I won't let you fall...
But it must be YOU who walks straight and tall.
I never LEFT you... you just couldn't see.
With fear in your heart... you couldn't know it was ME.
Here... I'll take your hand, but YOU make the move...
And sooner or later it surely will prove
That though you may walk through this valley so deep
I'm down IN this valley and surely will keep
You from fear or harm if you'll stay by me
Till you're out of this valley where you can see.”

And NOW when I come to the valley so dim
I just whisper... “Jesus”... I can really trust Him
I'm so glad that He's not just in Heaven so blue
But that He's down in that dark valley too.
